The Nurney Landscape & Design team was encouraged to see the recent rainfall across Bucks County throughout March and into April. These much needed showers have significantly improved our local drought conditions. Just two short months ago, the landscape was parched. Now, while we are in a much better position, it’s important to remember that we’re not entirely out of the woods yet. Currently, there are no drought warnings or emergencies in effect, however, Bucks County remains under a drought watch, meaning voluntary water conservation is still strongly encouraged.

What does this mean for you, our valued homeowners and clients? It means we will continue to be mindful of our water usage and make smart choices for your landscapes. At Nurney, we are committed to helping you navigate these conditions and maintain beautiful, thriving outdoor spaces.

Smart choices for thirsty landscapes:

  • Embrace drought-resistant plantings: Selecting the right plants is crucial for long-term water conservation. Consider beautiful and resilient options like Sedum, Coneflowers (Echinacea), Lavender, Russian Sage (perovskia), and various ornamental grasses. These plants are naturally adapted to drier conditions and require less supplemental watering once established.

  • Efficient irrigation is key: Traditional sprinkler systems can lead to water waste through evaporation and runoff. We specialize in the installation of efficient irrigation systems such as drip irrigation and soaker hoses, which deliver water directly to the plant roots, minimizing loss and maximizing uptake.

We are your landscape partner in ALL conditions. Our team is here to support you through any weather the season may bring. We can enhance our regular bed maintenance routine with watering services tailored to your landscape’s specific needs. Additionally, liquid fertilizer applicants can help strengthen your plants and improve their resilience to environmental stresses.

Whether we face continued dry spells, a return to normal rainfall, or even periods of excessive moisture, the Nurney maintenance team takes proactive steps to ensure our maintenance customers’ landscapes are best positioned to thrive.
