So You Want a Patio, Now What?

Dreaming of a beautiful, functional patio? It's a fantastic way to transform your outdoor space into a personal oasis. But before you start digging, there's a lot to consider. At Nurney Landscape and Design, we believe in creating patios that not only look great but also fit seamlessly into your lifestyle and budget.

Why Does it Take So Long?

One of the most common questions we get is, "Why does it take so long to get a patio?" The answer lies in the complexity of the process. Building a patio isn't just about shovels and dirt; it's about planning, designing, and creating a space that meets your specific needs and desires.

Budget Matters

The first step is understanding your budget. Patio projects can range from a few hundred dollars to six figures. It's helpful if you are prepared to discuss a budget range when we meet, and knowing budget helps us make informed decisions about materials, size, and features. We want to create a patio that you love without breaking the bank.

The Design Process

Design takes time. It's a collaborative process that involves you, your property, and our team. We'll work together to understand your vision, preferences, and how you plan to use the space. This information helps us create a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The design process can take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project.

The Timeline

Nurney's structured process helps homeowners know what to expect and keeps both parties accountable. Here's a breakdown of the steps involved:

  1. Initial Contact: You reach out to us to discuss your patio project.

  2. Sales Rep: A rep will reach out to you, forming the start of a great relationship.

  3. Budget Discussion: We talk about your budget to get a sense of what's possible.

  4. On-Site Meeting: Our representative visits your property to assess the space and discuss your ideas. This is where the fun begins. Our team will take notes, pictures, and measurements. We will also look at ease of access if any equipment will be needed, how close we are to the property line, the condition of the soil or ground, the topography, and the drainage of the property.

  5. Design Phase: We create a design based on your input and our expertise.

  6. Proposal: We present a detailed proposal outlining the design, materials, and costs in-person with you on the property.

  7. Contract Signing: Once you're happy with the proposal, we'll finalize the contract.

  8. We schedule your project!

Why We Ask So Many Questions

We want to ensure that your patio is a perfect fit. By asking questions about your lifestyle, preferences, and budget, we can create a space that you'll love for years to come.

Starting Now is Key

To ensure you can enjoy your new patio during the upcoming season, it's best to start the process now or during the late fall months. This gives us time to design, obtain necessary permits, and schedule construction.
