Yes, We Work in the Winter!

A commonly held misconception is that landscape contractors only work in the spring, summer, and fall. People are often surprised to learn that we also stay quite busy with construction projects and design work throughout the winter months. In recent years, we’ve also been helped a bit by Mother Nature who has delivered some mild and unseasonably warm winters here in Bucks County. Generally speaking, as long as the ground isn’t frozen, you can always find our crews hard at work helping our customers get a head start on spring.

If you’ve got a project in mind, now is the ideal time to reach out to us. You’ll find that there are several benefits to kicking off a project at this time of year:

  • Materials are often more readily available. With lower demand in the winter, some popular and hard-to-find stone or paver material can be easier to source and, potentially, might be found at a better price, especially if suppliers are looking to clear out surplus inventory before spring.

  • Disruption to you is minimal. We understand that a construction project can be a bit disruptive, especially in the heart of summer when you are trying to enjoy the outdoors. During the winter months, your property is likely not being used as heavily, so you can stay cozy indoors while we make the improvements outside.

  • Work can be fully completed before spring arrives. When spring rolls in, your property will be ready to shine! Seeding and planting in construction areas will also be timed so that plant material will be green and in bloom by the start of summer.

  • Our schedule is more flexible. As you might imagine, the demand for our services is highest in the spring. Customers often must wait several weeks or even months for a project to get scheduled and underway. It’s a different story during the winter – we’re usually able to start projects sooner and with far less wait time.

Winter is also the perfect time for design. If you're still at the concept stage, this is the ideal time to talk to us about design ideas. Design is a collaborative process, and our customers are often surprised to learn that the design process itself can take 4-6 weeks depending on the complexity of your project. By taking advantage of the quieter winter months to focus on the design, we’re able to then schedule construction accordingly so you can be off and running when spring arrives.

Don’t let winter pass you by!  Now is the time to talk to us if you’re dreaming of a new outdoor space. Contact Nurney Landscape & Design today to get started. (215) 794-8599.
